Creeper Trail

The Virginia Creeper Trail is one of the country’s most famous biking trails, earning a spot in the Rails to Trails Hall of Fame. The Creeper Trail runs 34 miles from Whitetop Mountain to Abington, VA. The most common activity for first time visitors is biking the section from Whitetop down to Damascus. Bike rental companies in Damascus will shuttle you to the top of the mountain for an easy 17-mile coast down to Damascus. The ride takes anywhere from two to four hours, depending on your pace. You can stop along the way at the Green Cove Station, grab a bite to eat at the Creeper Trail Café, skip rocks along various river stops, keep count of the 47 trestles and bridges along the trail, or explore Creek Junction, where the trail runs beside some of the best trout fishing in Virginia.
